MAC-roseromance

This is sooooooooo pretty and right up my alley.  This is the Rose Romance collection from MAC.

MAC_rose-romance

This is a pretty darned full color collection, with assorted lip colors, eyeshadows, beauty powder, nail polish and then some.  The colors are really incredibly soft and wearable – everything you would imagine with a collection called Rose Romance.  The Fix+Rose is a super fun beauty water with a rose scent – I am beginning to get enraptured by these scented spray waters, so I might have to check that one out.

The real stand out products to me are the gorgeous Beauty Powders, molded into a rose shape – so pretty, and I do love the nail polish especially well too – just the right rose color.  Sometimes MAC puts out collections that I think about 5% of the country will love, and others that resonate with the other 95% – this is one of those collections.

MAC Sugarsweet

mac-sugarsweet Sugarsweet is a HUGE collection of mostly color cosmetics from MAC – it was launched March 19.  There are so many colors involved, I recommend you go find them on MACCosmetics.com to see them all in better detail.  BTW, MAC has made some huge improvements to their site – if you haven’t been in awhile, go spend some time there.  Fun fun!

For me, the very best thing in this collection is the new Tricolour Lipglasses – I cannot adequately describe with words, and pictures don’t do justice to how lovely these are.  They are available in 5 different shades (well triple shades) – Consume Me (warm pink), Just Dessert (coral pink), Simply Delicious (coral), Triple-Yum (bronze) and Tasty (my favorite – cool pink).  Absolutely beautiful.

Also very, very noteworthy are the Shadesticks – gorgeous highly pigmented eye color sticks.  They go on so soft and smooth and blend perfectly, and are available in some beautiful, and rather neutral shade ranges.

Also, you can read up about the newest collection from MAC -Colour Ready, which launched April 2, over at Christina Loves…

“The look for the Summer 2009 collection is sophisticated, but colorful,” says François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics.

nars-summer-2009

NARS Tropic Single Eyeshadow- $22

For the latest eye shadow, there was only one blue François Nars had in mind.  “The tropics are always inspiring for me,” says Nars.  This lush, silver-flecked teal is a precise image of the ocean’s reflective, rolling waves.

NARS Scorching Sun Duo Eyeshadow- $32

The glazed apricot and radiant orange duo, is designed “to imitate the effect of the burning sun,” according to Nars.  The sun-drenched colors allow for surprising wearability.  The pair can be blended together to form a rich, burnt orange, or worn in tandem.

NARS Irresistiblement Bronzing Powder- $30

Nothing evokes the feeling of summertime quite like bronzed skin.  The newest shade, a rich golden terracotta, offers a flattering faux glow when dusted across the areas of the face where the actual sun would hit.

NARS Falbala Lipstick- $24

On the lips, this high-shine bronzy rose lipstick has a sweet, insouciant quality about it.

NARS Outsider Lipstick- $24

This is definitely not your grandmother’s coral.  This deeper, glistening variety is a modern take on a time-honored classic.

NARS Belize Lip Gloss- $24

The pale pink mauve sprinkled with specks of gold simulates the color of a Central American sunset and gives nude lips a sultry boost.

NARS Tonga Lipliner Pencil- $20

A creamy, long-wearing lip pencil in a shade of pink amber plays dual roles. Use it traditionally, to outline lips and prevent lipstick from feathering; or color the entire lip with the moisture-rich pencil.

NARS Adelita Nail Polish- $16

This shimmering pearlescent shade of pink, is simultaneously sweet and saucy, the ideal embodiment of feminine strength.

Jennifer Aniston dazzles at the Oscars

Jennifer Aniston dazzles at the Oscars in a silver gown as she goes backstage with the winners. She brought her best smile and a bag full of never seen before facial expressions. Something tonight had obviously made Jennifer very happy. Pictured: Jennifer Aniston Picture by: Ciao Hollywood / Splash News

Beauty Inspiration:
"When I spoke to Jen before the Oscars, we decided we wanted to create a look that exuded modern glamour.  She had just returned from vacation, and she had that relaxed, glowing feeling, which we wanted to display on the red carpet.  She is the quintessential California glamour girl, and she was radiant as always on Oscar night."

Beauty Tip:
Angela prepped Jennifer’s skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Moisture Boost Cream.  She then used a foundation brush to apply CHANEL Lift Lumiere Firming and Smoothing Fluid Makeup in Beige all over the face.  Under Jennifer’s eyes, Angela applied CHANEL Lift Lumiere Smooth and Rejuvinating Eye Contour in Beige Lumiere. Instead of a traditional blush, Angela dabbed a bit of CHANEL Hydrabase Lipstick in Coco Red on the apples of Jennifer’s cheeks.  She then applied  CHANEL Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed around the tops of her cheekbones, closer to the eye, for a bit of shimmer. Jennifer’s eyes were a combination of LORAC eye shadows in Jade, Black, and Serenity, and a Tina Earnshaw shadow in Aubergine.  Her lashes looked extra glamorous thanks to CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black.  On Jennifer’s lips, Angela used CHANEL Aqualumiere Lipshine in Panarea, available in April.  To complete the look, she dusted Soleil Tan de CHANEL Bronzer on Jennifer’s skin, an exclusive creation product from CHANEL also launching in April.

Beauty Inspiration:
"When I asked Nicole what we wanted to do for the Oscars, she told me she just wanted to look beautiful!  So I decided to go for basic, beautiful makeup that shows who she is – an unbelievable beauty, timeless and glamorous.  Her look was pure and gorgeous, just as it should be for the 81st Academy Awards."
Beauty Tip:
Angela prepped Nicole’s skin with he favorite skin care product, CHANEL Hydramax + Active Moisture Boost Cream.  On her eyes, she used the sultry shades from the CHANEL Quadra Eye shadow in Reflets d’Ombre.  Several coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black were applied to create a glamorous, modern eye.  She applied CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Rose on Nicole’s cheekbones.  For an added flawless effect, Angela used CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Translucent 1 all over Nicole’s face.  To create a sophisticated, glossy wine coloured lip, she applied CHANEL Aqualumiere Gloss in Bubble Plum.

Beauty Inspiration:
“My inspiration for Natalie on Oscar night was her dress… The colour was a fantastic orchid, and being Rodarte, I wanted to do cool punk rock sexy fairy make up.”
Beauty Tip:
Jeanine was going for a smoky eye, and used CHANEL Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. She used the pale pink as a base and the dark purple smoked around the eye on the lid and smudged in lower lash line. She added CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir inside the eye, and lots of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black for thick sexy lashes. She used CHANEL Perfect Brows in Brun, using the two colours to make a strong brow, but keeping it soft. Jeanine then used CHANEL Powder Blush in Narcisse, a flattering, bright pink shade, high on the cheek bones. She then added CHANEL Glossimer in Galactic for a more pale lavender lip. Finally, for a sexy, bronze sheen, Jeanine applied CHANEL Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed on Natalie’s arms, shoulders, and décolleté.

Beauty Inspiration:
"The first thing I noticed when I saw Diane was her va va voom black dress! I wanted her makeup to be super sexy and stong, like she is.  Because it was the Oscars, I focused on bumping up the eyes with lots of mascara and lashes, and sent her down the carpet glowing and gorgeous."
Beauty Tip:
Rachel opened up Diane’s eyes with browns and taupes from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Demure.  She created a sultry look with soft browns in the crease and a soft ivory on the lids up to the brow bone.  The eyes were lined with an Elizabeth Arden smoky eye pencil, and several coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black gave her a dramatic, seductive look. To give Diane’s skin a dewy, glowing look, Rachel applied CHANEL Teint Innocence Naturally Luminous Fluid Makeup mixed with a bit of Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer.  On the contours of the cheeks, she applied a peach cream blush from Jouer.  Finally, to complete the strong, sexy look, Rachel gave Diane a bold orangey red lip with CHANEL Hydrabase Lipstick in Fuego.

mac-studio-sculpt

Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation is probably going to be my favorite of all of MAC’s foundations, and is their newest offering.  Launching into the permanent collection on February 7th, this collection consists of 13 shades of a medium coverage cream foundation and 10 shades of a super creamy concealer.  They recommend the synthetic 191 foundation brush and the 195 concealer brush(coming in Feb) for use with these new products.

The foundation is shipped in 1.3 oz squeeze tube, and has a sophisticated lineup of ingredients including Sodium hyaluronate, yeast extract, shea butter, Hyperlea Rhopdopensis Leaf Extract, Beet Root Extract and Tamarind Seed Extract as well as antioxidants vitamins C and E.  This foundation is made for all skin types, but is especially suited to dryer and mature skins, and is ideal for HD.  Layer this product for more coverage, or mix with a little moisturizer to sheer it down a bit.  The foundation dries down to a matte finish (but still feels moist) and really lasts well throughout the day.

The Studio Sculpt 15 Foundation retails for $28 and the Studio Sculpt Concealer is $16.50 for a .19 oz jar.

Nars Spring 2009 Collection

NARS Spring 2009 Collection

Here we have the beautiful Spring 2009 collection from Nars.  A few of these products we have been introduced to previously, but the full collection is now available.  On my definite try list are the new duo concealers.

Definitely worth checking out are the Spring 2009 Nars looks from the runway:

Phillip Lim

BCBG

Chris Benz

And from Francois Nars – his inspiration for the collection:

My inspiration was a very sexy woman. I wanted a bit of a ‘70s feeling, somewhere between Guy Bourdin and Chris Von Wangenheim’s photographs—aggressive, but very sensual and fragile at the same time.

This is Anne Hathaway at the Golden Globes last night. I cannot find the straight on picture I am looking for of her, but I can link you to one. The red lips are absolutely not my favorite look on her. She is a beauty, but she has a lot of mouth that, in my opinion, doesn’t need to be accentuated that much. I think she looked so much prettier a few nights before, at the Critics Choice Awards (below). What do you think?
