shu-uemura-spring-09Soft and feminine is the theme of the Spring 09 Shu Uemura color cosmetics collection.  Ube romantic shades of pinks, blues and greens and the careful use of shading will get you there.

This collection consists of the pretty standard eye shadows, blushes and lip colors, with the addition of beautiful limited edition drawing pencils to help with your shading.  These pencils come in light blue (shown), pink and lilac, are meant to be used on your eyelids (as opposed to being used as an eye liner), and are $19.

Here are the eye shadows in the collection:

This is Fantasia, a trio of cool eye colors.

This is Utopia, a trio of warm eye colors.

The blushes in the collection are twofold:  One is a cream blush, and the other is a powder.  Layer these for interesting plays on light and color on your cheeks.  These are the blushes in the collection:

This is Misty Glow – these colors are fairly warm, but they do work on my cool skin much better than the next palette.

This is Orange Phase - I love the cream blush here (left), but the orange is definitely for warm skin types.  I wish they had paired these blushes exactly opposite of how they did.  Do give them a try though, they are different and give very interesting effects.

Shu Uemura always comes up with innovative colors and combinations of colors that definitely march to their own beat.  That is one of the reasons that Shu has such a huge following, and the colors really need to be seen and worn to understand just how beautiful they are – it is one of the few lines that you can’t fully appreciate with online visuals.  You can check out the whole collection online, and if you are lucky enough to be near a Shu counter, definitely stop in and let the associates show you the collection, I bet you will fall in love like I always do.  I must get to Houston soon.
